Provide general security officer duties and/or customer service duties at designated client location in conjunction with approved site-specific post orders. By definition, Security Officers provide protection, assistance, information, and miscellaneous related services to the management, employees, and visitors of a Client. Post requires a valid driver’s license for vehicle patrols.
The common tasks involved in generally developing an environment where people feel secure and are, in fact, safe include fostering cooperation and goodwill, preserving order, controlling access, promoting safety and security, enforcing rules and regulations, deterring misconduct, and safeguarding assets.
Inherent in this is the need for remaining keenly observant for, and promptly and correctly responding to, all irregular or unusual conditions and activities such as:
1. Utility breakdowns (e.g., water leaks, electrical power outages, etc.) or the failure to conserve utilities when possible.
2. Fire and safety violations or hazards.
3. Accidents which have occurred or fires in progress.
4. Security related deficiencies (e.g., unsecured or damaged access barriers, inadequate or inoperative protective lighting, etc.).
5. Loitering or trespassing.
6. Theft or other crimes against property (e.g., vandalism, arson, sabotage, etc.).
7. Violent crimes against persons (e.g., robbery, assault, etc.).
8. Use of intoxicants or non‑prescription narcotic drugs.
9. Unauthorized distribution of literature.
10. Soliciting or peddling.
11. Disturbances or demonstrations.
GENERAL PHYSICAL HAZARDS
1. Security Guards will be exposed to a wide variety of environmental conditions including, but not limited to:
2. Working outdoors, excessive heat/cold, constant noise, slippery or uneven walking surfaces
3. Working around moving objects or vehicles, shifts lasting eight or more hours while working alone, frequent, close contact with members of the public, potential threats or security risks, whether physical or verbal, and construction environment and associated hazards
4. Security Guards will be required to stand at a post for long periods of time, up to 6 hours without a break
5. Security Guards will often have to walk moderate distances to perform rounds applicable guard tours and/or required patrols
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. U.S. citizen, or a legal alien possessing appropriate work permit or visa
2. Must be able to fluently read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
3. Must have intermediate to advanced English writing skills, including ability to prepare detailed written reports and fill out forms
4. Possess a valid driver’s license or state of Florida ID
5. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
6. Active Florida Class “D” License. 40 hours of classroom training in accordance with State of Florida Department of Licensing pursuant to Section 493.6123 (1) F.S.
7. If served in a branch of the military service: Honorably Discharged
8. Positive work history, i.e. terminations, excessive employment movement, etc.
9. Possess the capacity to acquire a good working knowledge of all aspects of the job. Possess basic computer skills and/or security systems knowledge as required by the position
10. Must be willing and able to work any schedule necessary in order to accommodate the requirements of the job site.
