Job Description
Overview:
The London Borough of Harrow is looking for an Under-Occupation Officer to provide to under-occupying council and housing association tenants (as part of the assessment process for applicants to the Council’s housing register). The post holder will give high quality advice, assistance and information about alternative housing options with the aim of maximising the number of under-occupiers moves leading to more available social housing properties for other families in housing need in the borough.The successful candidate will seek out and encourage more under-occupying council tenants to apply for transfer, to mitigate the financial disadvantage to some tenants and prevent resultant rent arrears.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent knowledge of housing options and housing solutions
- Knowledge of housing law and Harrow’s allocation scheme.
- Understanding of the issues affecting under-occupiers
- Knowledge of choice-based lettings
- Knowledge of welfare benefits
- Extensive IT experience with a range of software packages
- Experience of maintaining accurate & concise file records
- Experience of advising customers in a housing-related setting
