OVERVIEW
A structured Security Shift Manager role is critical to the success of the Parq Vancouver. The primary responsibility of the Security Shift Manager is to ensure all regulations, policies, laws and procedures are enforced.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Security Shift Manager will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and direction of security personnel. This leadership position assists with mentoring, motivating, and performance management of all team members and to monitor and maintain the highest level of customer service to ensure a safe environment for all individuals.
- Responsible for the security and safety of all persons on property
- Responsible for the protection of the assets of the company
- Communicate regularly with the officers and supervisors, ensuring all are kept informed of casino events, accident and incident reports, exclusions, violations and other security related activities, etc.
- Maintains the highest level of discretion and confidentiality for the Security Department and broader management related issues
- Conduct self always in a manner that reflects positively on the property and encourages others to do the same
- Assists security staff with all day-to-day security related operations and functions in the casino
- Liaise with other department Supervisors and Managers on day to day inter-department functions and casino operations
- Monitors the evaluation and disciplinary process of Security Team Members to ensure compliance with operating procedures and ensure Human Resource guidelines are met
- Knowledgeable of all marketing initiatives both internal and external as they relate to parq Vancouver
- Responsible for supervising, documenting and coaching all Team Members under direct supervision to ensure they are adhering to the company customer service standards
- In coordination with the Security Manager, develops and executes company policies and procedures to efficiently meet operational needs
- Oversees and ensures regulatory compliance with regards to storage, destruction and issuance of secure inventory (cards, dice and gaming supplies)
- Maintain compliance with Access Control policies for all associates, ensuring Master Access List is up to date, and investigating any discrepancies
- Review monthly Key Control Audit and maintain accurate key log
- Create and administer bi-annual development plans for all Security Officers
- Review payroll software and adjust officer punches to ensure accurate data is recorded
- Review and update master schedule to reflect changes of business needs
- Create officer deployment for the day to day operations of the department ensuring operational needs and officer breaks are met
- Administration and liaise duties as directed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a casino security environment or equivalent security experience
- High school education or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Education in related field of study including law enforcement would be a definite asset
- Training in use of force and tactical communication
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability for conflict resolution, effective decision making, and directing staff diplomatically
- Demonstrated experience intervening and deescalating conflict situations with non-violent tactics
- Ability to remain professional and perform duties under stressful conditions
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in report writing and incident investigation skills
- Knowledge of Casino, Food & Beverage and Hospitality Operations an asset
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to obtain a valid GPEB registration
- Ability to complete all BCLC required trainings
- Ability to obtain Serving it Right Certification
- Valid BST Certificate and Security License required
- Current OFA certification an asset
- Gaming Security Officer Training Certificate required within 90 days of employment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Security Shift Managers work in an environment with a diverse clientele, should the need arise all officers are required to be physical able to restrain and control a subject during a physical removal
- Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 25lbs
- Required to stand and walk during assigned shift (ability to run as required during an emergency or security situation)
- May work outdoors during all hours and in all weather
