Our team is growing! We’re currently hiring for Experienced Security Officers to join one of the best teams in Calgary! Working at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino, you will gain valuable crime prevention knowledge and experience in a unique and exciting environment that will further prepare you for a career in law enforcement.

The successful candidate will provide security and protection services to Calgary’s finest entertainment venue, which includes our two four-star hotels, 60,000+ square foot casino, banquet centre, entertainment showroom, restaurants, pubs, and parking areas for the safety of patrons, staff, and protection of assets and gaming activities.

Responsibilities:

– Reports to the Manager, Security & Surveillance or Supervisor on duty.

– Enforces age / access provisions within the casino

– Conducts patrols to ensure the safety of patrols and protection of assets

– Performs customer assistance

– Responds to emergencies and medical calls

– Enforces the Trespass to Premises Act and Criminal Code

– Liaises with the Calgary Police Service, the Calgary Fire Department, EMS, and other emergency providers

The successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Candidate must be either a Canadian Citizen, hold Permanent Resident Status or have an Open Work Permit.
  • Post-secondary education in criminology or suitable combination of education and experience would be considered an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Security Officer experience required. Recent High-Risk Security, Casino or Police experience within Canada or an international location is preferred.
  • A clear Calgary Police Service/ RCMP Security Clearance, with no criminal convictions or pending charges within the court system.
  • Alberta Security Services License is not required, but is considered a bonus.
  • AGLC Certificates including Anti Money Laundering, Deal Us in Casino Staff Training (Phase 1 & 2), ProTect & ProServe are required to be obtained prior to start.
  • Current certification in Defence Tactics Threat Pattern Recognition (formerly PPCT), Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, and/or handcuffing training highly preferred
  • Candidates must be physically fit and able to perform all job duties as required on site. This includes but is not limited to being on your feet for your entire shift, walking, standing, running and climbing stairs when required.
  • Candidates will be required to safely intervene to prevent or resolve physical altercations, including the removal/detaining of individuals when required
  • Candidates must be able to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Must have a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C & AED or higher level of medical training.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office & other windows-based programs
  • Strong communication skills as candidates must be able to verbally communicate in English and complete written reports.
  • Possess a high level of honesty and integrity, with adherence to high standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment

As our facility is a 24/7/365 operation, candidates must be available and willing to work all shifts, which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Due to our shift times and location, candidates must have their own vehicle as public transit is not reliable for this area.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 48 per week
